The shrub has a dense, slightly rounded or upright habit with a height of 0.8 to 1.5 m and a width of 0.7 to 1.3 m. Sturdy shoots bear paniculate inflorescences 15–30 cm long, possessing a light fragrance.
The plant is winter-hardy, prefers sunny locations or partial shade, as well as moist, fertile and well-drained soils. Suitable for single and group plantings, mixed borders and container cultivation. Requires annual spring pruning of the previous year's shoots.
