The variety has flat lacecap-type inflorescences. Sterile marginal flowers are bicolored: with a white border and a pink, blue, or purple center, depending on soil acidity. The petals are serrated; fertile inner flowers are colored in a more intense shade.
The plant forms a compact shrub 1–1.2 meters in height and width. Flowering occurs from July–August, sometimes continuing until September. The variety is suitable for solitary planting, creating masses, bordering, and container cultivation.
In botanical sources, there is a discussion regarding the classification of the variety: it is attributed either to Hydrangea serrata or Hydrangea macrophylla. The plant possesses good winter hardiness, however, due to the uncertainty of the species, requirements for agrotechnics and soil may vary.
