The Chodské variety tree forms large, vigorous crowns that become broad-globular or drooping with age. The variety is characterized as undemanding, winter-hardy, and sufficiently resistant to scab and powdery mildew. It is well-adapted to windy conditions and can be grown in mountainous regions.
The fruits are medium to large in size and have a globular shape. When fully ripe, their skin is lemon-yellow with a diffused red blush. The flesh is firm, juicy, does not brown, and possesses a sweet-vinous, delicately spicy taste.
The variety is a winter type; the harvest is collected in the second half of October, and consumer maturity occurs from December to April. The fruits are resistant to damage during transport and do not shrivel during storage. The variety enters bearing five years after planting, produces regular yields, and is a good pollinator.
