The plant is a tree 7.5 to 11 meters tall with a crown width of 2.5–3 meters. It is distinguished by a pronounced narrow-pyramidal growth habit and abundant flowering in late April — May. The fragrant flowers are 3.5–4 cm in diameter; they are pink in bud and white or cream when opened.
The fruits are small, 1–1.5 cm in diameter, bright red or yellow in color, and remain on the branches until late autumn. The tree prefers full sun and drained loamy soils. It is characterized by high winter hardiness, although susceptibility to fire blight and biennial bearing are noted.
