It is a densely branched tree with a rounded crown and shoots growing at wide angles. Leaves are elliptical or oblong, without lobes, 4–9 cm long, and are notable for their autumn coloration. Flowers are white, 2.5–3.5 cm in diameter.
Fruits are elliptical or oblong, approximately 4 by 2.5 cm in size, yellowish-green or red in color. The fruits have no commercial value and may change texture and acquire a tart taste upon ripening. The plant is characterized by high susceptibility to the phytoplasma disease — apple proliferation.
