The variety Delshel is an independent breeding of the Georges Delbard nurseries. The variety Akane was used as a genetic resource in its development.
The fruits of this variety are distinguished by a very dark red skin color. The variety is not widely distributed in commercial fruit growing and is of interest to pomologist collectors.
