The variety was obtained in Great Britain around 1949 as a result of accidental pollination, presumably involving the Worcester Pearmain variety. Trees are medium-sized, precocious, and begin to bear fruit 2–3 years after planting. The variety is self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinator trees.
Fruits weighing 120–140 g have a round or slightly flattened shape. The skin is yellow-green with an intense red blush. The flesh is light cream, firm, and has a sweet and sour taste with a strawberry aroma. The shelf life of the fruits is 1–2 weeks.
The plant has good resistance to diseases, including scab. The height of the tree depends on the type of rootstock and varies from 2.5 to 8 meters. The fruits are intended for fresh consumption and processing into juice.
