The variety is considered local, originating from the Domö farm in the province of Västergötland and known since the 1870s. The tree has a sparse crown with drooping branches and begins to bear fruit at an early age. The variety shows some resistance to fire blight.
The fruits ripen in early September, and their storage life is a few weeks. In terms of taste characteristics, the apples are juicy, soft, and sweet, with a light wine-sweet flavor. The produce is used fresh, as well as for the production of cider and juices.
Scientific studies of the genetic profile of samples from collections note the presence of mislabeling or atypical characteristics, which indicates possible identification errors of historical specimens.
