The plant forms a wide spreading, irregular crown. Leaves have an ovate or elliptic shape; when budding they are colored brownish-red with a sheen, eventually turning dark green.
Flowers 3–4 cm in diameter have a deep purple color in the bud phase; when fully opened, they become purple with a brownish tint on the outside and pink on the inside. Small rounded purple fruits are situated on long, thin stalks and have a decorative purpose.
The variety is adapted to temperate climate conditions and corresponds to hardiness zone 3.
