The tree grows with moderate intensity at a young age, with growth slowing down as it matures. The crown is initially high and dome-shaped, becoming slightly spreading over time and reaching small to medium sizes. The variety is cross-pollinating, blooms mid-early, and serves as a good pollinator for other varieties.
Fruits are of medium size, about 76 mm, and are named for their characteristic coarse, rough skin. The flesh is tender, spicy, sweet-vinous, with a slight astringency. It is a winter variety: harvesting is carried out in October, and consumer maturity occurs from December to June. It is characterized by high resistance to apple scab and apple tree canker.
The fruits are suitable both for fresh consumption as a dessert and for various types of culinary processing.
