Pajam 1 is of French selection and is a clone of the Malling 9 rootstock. It is used as a dwarfing rootstock for establishing high-density apple orchards.
In terms of vigor, the rootstock is close to the standard M.9, however, it possesses less growth energy than M.9 EMLA. A distinctive characteristic is its easier ability to root in the nursery compared to the classic M.9 rootstock.
The use of this rootstock provides good fruiting efficiency for apple varieties grafted onto it. The material is suitable for cultivation in intensive orchard conditions.
