The Strymka variety is a traditional folk variety common in Central Europe. The medium-sized fruits have a light green or yellowish skin with red streaking. The flesh is firm and coarse; at the time of harvest in October, the taste is sour and tart, however, after long storage until February or July, the fruits become sweeter.
The plant is undemanding and suitable for extensive fruit growing, including avenue and landscape plantings. The fruits are characterized by a high content of pectins and phenolic compounds. Traditionally, the variety is used as a processing apple, in particular for making ciders with a "wine-like" character, as well as for consumption after long storage.
