Aetonycholia, also known as Aetonycholia, is a synonym for the Kalamon (Kalamata) variety. The fruits have an almond-shaped asymmetrical form, resembling a claw. The tree possesses high growth vigor and large leaves. The variety is primarily for table use, sensitive to cold and Verticillium wilt, but resistant to the olive fruit fly and olive knot.
Chondroelia translates as large olive and serves as a general name for large-fruited Greek varieties, the most famous of which is Chondroelia Chalkidikis. It is a vigorous tree whose fruits are distinguished by high fleshiness. The variety is self-incompatible and requires cross-pollination; it is used both for canning and for early harvest oil production.
