The Colombale variety (synonyms Columella, Couloumbaou) is a local olive variety that formed through centuries of selection. Genetic studies classify it as a distinct French cultivar.
The plant is mainly cultivated for olive oil production, including for blends with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO/AOP). The variety can also be used for canning as a table product and possesses good resistance to low temperatures.
