The variety is endemic to the island of Corsica and is the result of folk selection. It is officially recognized and included in the list of varieties for the production of Corsican olive oil with a protected designation of origin (AOP/PDO Oliu di Corsica).
The oil obtained from the olives of this variety is distinguished by a mild, harmonious taste with characteristic notes of artichoke and dried fruits. Harvesting is carried out at the late maturity stage of the fruit.
Curtinese trees possess pronounced resistance to pests and diseases, which allows them to be used in organic farming.
