The tree is medium to large in size with large, slightly twisted leaves. The fruits have an elongated, almond-like shape, often with a characteristic curve, which gives the variety the name Aetonychi (eagle's claws).
The variety is late-maturing, with harvest occurring in November-December. The crop is sensitive to frost and susceptible to Verticillium wilt, while showing relative resistance to the olive fruit fly and olive knot (Pseudomonas savastanoi).
The fruits are distinguished by firm flesh, rich flavor, and good texture, making the variety one of the best for table use. It is also used for olive oil production.
