ActiveOlea europaea L. · Olive

The variety is native to Greece and is cultivated in various regions of the country, including Macedonia, Euboea, Attica, and island territories. The fruits have a mass of more than 5 g, a characteristic line on the skin, and a small protrusion at the end. The variety is also known by the names Stravolia, Karolia, and Kourolia, and the presence of mentions of regional variations, such as Karydolia Trizinias or Chalkidikis, may indicate the existence of local clones.
Karydolia is considered one of the most cold-hardy Greek varieties, suitable for the climate of Northern Greece. The plant is partially self-infertile and requires the presence of pollinator varieties for effective fruit set, such as Chondrolia Chalkidikis, Koroneiki, or Adramitini, with which its flowering period coincides.
