The variety is the result of centuries of folk selection and is suitable for both oil production and table use. The trees are medium-sized with a rounded crown 6–8 meters in diameter. The fruits ripen by the end of October in plains and a month later in semi-mountainous areas, remaining well-attached to the branches.
The oil content in the fruits is about 22%. The variety is characterized by high tolerance to drought, irrigation water salinity, and olive knot. At the same time, it is susceptible to infestation by olive fruit fly, olive moth, and the fungal disease peacock spot. The variety is characterized by pronounced biennial bearing and a tendency for flower drop.
