The name Lucentina comes from the city of Lucena in Andalusia, where the Hojiblanca variety became widespread. The name of the Hojiblanca variety itself, meaning white leaf, is due to the silvery-white color of the underside of the tree's leaves.
The fruits have a rounded shape and are medium to large in size. The variety belongs to late ripening groups. Harvesting can be difficult due to the high attachment strength of the fruits to the branches, while the fruits themselves are characterized by density and resistance.
The oil of the variety has a medium oleic acid content and is resistant to oxidation when heated. The flavor profile of the product is characterized by a balance with herbaceous notes, light bitterness, and pungency.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
