The Mallocrina variety (synonyms Majorchina, Bajocchina) is a traditional local cultivar. The tree is distinguished by high vigor and a spreading crown of medium density.
The variety is of dual purpose: suitable for oil production and table consumption. Yield is medium with a tendency towards alternate bearing. The oil has a harmonious taste with notes of grass, artichoke, and almond.
The variety has high susceptibility to the fungus Spilocaea oleaginea and the olive fruit fly, while demonstrating high resistance to olive knot (Pseudomonas savastanoi).
