Variety description

10 August 2026

The Manzanilla Cacereña tree is characterized by low vigor, an open canopy shape of medium density, and high longevity. The fruits have a rounded, apple-like shape, are slightly asymmetrical, have an average weight of 3–4 grams, and turn black upon ripening.

The variety is early-ripening and begins bearing fruit at 8–10 years. Low fruit detachment force facilitates mechanical harvesting. The plant shows high resistance to olive fruit fly and olive knot (tuberculosis), but is susceptible to Verticillium wilt; it tolerates acidic soils and low temperatures well.

The produce is valued for easy pit removal for table use. Oil from these olives contains a high concentration of oleic acid and polyphenols, and possesses a flavor profile with notes of grass, green apple, tomato, and almond, with an oil yield of 10–14%.
