The variety is a local cultivar that historically formed in the area of the Catalan Coastal Range. Studies have confirmed its genetic distinctness from other varieties bearing the name "Vera". Trees are productive, although prone to alternate bearing.

The fruits are of medium size, ovoid, slightly asymmetrical in shape, and have a surface with many small lenticels. Upon ripening, they turn black with difficulty, and the pit inside the fruit has a rough surface. The fruits lack a mucron.

The resulting oil possesses an intense fruity aroma with notes of fresh greens, grass, almond, artichoke, and fennel. The product is distinguished by a mild, balanced flavor with slight bitterness and pungency, and is characterized by low acidity and a high antioxidant content.
