XOANA is a relict olive variety discovered in the Galicia region. This variety is an autochthonous genotype that was long considered forgotten and is currently being studied for the purpose of genetic characterization and the revival of traditional olive cultivation.
The fruits of the variety are distinguished by a high fat content in dry matter, amounting to 45.58%. The variety, together with the Hedreira variety, forms a separate group characterized by specific morphological traits, in particular the peculiar shape of the stone apex.
