The variety ripens in late July. The tree is characterized by strong but compact growth. The fruits are distinguished by a dark crimson, almost black color, heart shape, and firm skin, which gives them a slight initial sharpness of taste.

The variety belongs to pollination group B and is self-sterile; pollinators such as Mermat, Merton Bigarreau, Merton Bounty, or Frogmore Early are required for fruit set. Dessert variety intended for fresh consumption.
