In the Italian tradition, the term Visciola denotes a group of sour cherry varieties that differ from sweet cherries or amarelle cherries by the presence of dark red flesh, deeply colored juice, and a characteristic sweet-and-sour taste. The VISCIOLA MAGLI variety is included among the objects representing the Italian agronomic heritage and is documented in the Atlas of autochthonous fruit crops of Italy.

Precise agronomic data, such as tree height, yield indicators, maturity dates, or disease resistance, are not presented in open sources. The use of the fruits of this variety is characteristic of the regional culture of Italy, in particular the Marche region, where they are used in the production of cherry wines and liqueurs.
