The Hackmann variety is known as an old variety of garden plum, which was described in 1866 in the work "Svensk Pomona". The plant is common in Sweden and is mentioned in literature as "Hackmanns Pflaume".
The variety belongs to the late-maturing group, the fruits ripen in September. It is characterized by the blue color of the fruit skin and is used for fresh consumption and in breeding programs to transmit the blue color trait.
