PRUGNA DI SERRA is a landrace variety whose name is associated with the locality of Serra in the Casentino region of Tuscany. It is believed that the crop could have been introduced to this area by pilgrims in the Middle Ages.
The fruits of this variety mature early, specifically in early August. They are characterized by small size, dark purple skin color, yellow-green flesh, and a slight astringency in taste.
