The rootstock was discovered in Hungary and refined by the French institute I.N.R.A. In the first years after planting, it is characterized by vigorous growth, which slows down over time, making it less vigorous compared to GF 677 and Barrier-1 rootstocks.
The plant has high resistance to root-knot nematodes and is suitable for cultivation in calcareous soils with high pH levels and low organic matter content. However, the variety is sensitive to Phytophthora and is not recommended for use in heavy, waterlogged soils.
The use of this rootstock promotes earlier crop ripening and improves the color intensity of the scion fruits.
