Brompton is used in nursery production as a vigorous rootstock that provides longevity and productivity to grafted trees. Trees on this rootstock reach a height of 4.5–6 meters and more, therefore it is used primarily for establishing orchards with large trees.
Propagation of this rootstock is difficult and unproductive in nursery conditions. Vegetative propagation by softwood cuttings is permitted. The rootstock has good winter hardiness, however, it is not universal and is not compatible with all plum varieties.
