The Brokforest rootstock provides moderate tree vigor, ranging from 65 to 90 percent of that on seedling rootstocks. It is characterized by good anchorage and promotes earlier entry of grafted trees into the fruiting phase.
The plant is adapted to growing on dry and calcareous soils. The rootstock demonstrates resistance to a number of soil-borne pathogens, including Phytophthora, and also shows tolerance to Pseudomonas.
