The Broksec rootstock is presumably a hybrid of Prunus mahaleb and Prunus avium. Plants grafted onto this rootstock are characterized by vigorous growth, accounting for approximately 80% of the growth of wild cherry, and are comparable to SL64 and Colt rootstocks.
The root system of the rootstock is well-developed, possesses excellent anchorage, and does not produce root suckers. The rootstock has high winter hardiness, tolerates dry soils well, and has good compatibility with sweet cherry varieties. In rare cases, it can be used as a rootstock for plum.
