The Colt rootstock is a hybrid of sweet cherry and Prunus pseudocerasus. The plant is characterized as a semi-dwarf or medium-vigor rootstock, providing good anchorage for trees, which allows them to be grown without permanent support.
Trees on this rootstock typically reach a height of 4–5 meters. Colt possesses good resistance to bacterial canker, Phytophthora root rot, and rodent damage; however, it shows sensitivity to drought and susceptibility to bacterial root rot.
This rootstock is distinguished by good compatibility with most sweet cherry varieties and contributes to the production of high-quality fruit. There is no information regarding the existence of a plum variety with this name; the designation refers exclusively to stone fruit rootstocks.
