The variety is a traditional peach that was discovered in California and found wide application in the processing industry.
In horticulture, seedlings of this variety are used as rootstock for stone fruit crops, including Japanese plum. Such grafting helps adapt trees to certain types of soils, for example, sandy soils, although the plants themselves on such rootstock may have a limited lifespan and susceptibility to diseases typical for peach.
