BROCCOLINA is a local heirloom pear variety mentioned in 19th-century historical documents as part of fruit collections in the Umbria and Romagna regions. It is an autumn-winter variety; the fruits ripen in late October or November.
The fruits are small in size and pear-shaped or apple-shaped. The skin is yellow-green with a bronze hue and pronounced russeting. The flesh is creamy white, firm and sweet, containing stone cells and tannins.
The variety is characterized by a long storage period and resistance to diseases. Due to its texture, the fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and culinary processing.
