Brutta e Buona is not a single standardized variety, but a collection of traditional landrace forms, common primarily in the Romagna region. The plant is also known by the synonyms Bugiarda and Ingannavillani.

The fruits are described as small, weakly pyriform or almost round in shape with a thin, russeted, straight peduncle. Ripening times vary from medium to medium-late depending on the specific variety.

Currently, these pears are considered an object of agrobiodiversity and are preserved in collection orchards. Breeding attempts using this name in the mid-20th century are isolated cases, separate from the original ancient forms.
