The Brokmal rootstock belongs to the OHF (Old Home x Farmingdale) series and is characterized as semi-dwarfing. In terms of vigor, it is comparable to the BP 1 rootstock and is equal to or exceeds BA 29. It possesses good compatibility with most pear varieties.

This rootstock is distinguished by high resistance to fire blight, woolly pear aphid, as well as tolerance to "pear decline", drought conditions, and soils with high lime content. Propagation of this rootstock by hardwood cuttings is difficult.
