The Høst Bergamot variety is an old Danish pear variety. A variation under the name Rød Høst Bergamot is also mentioned in the literature.

The plant is prone to diseases and yields an irregular harvest, which is why it is not considered suitable for widespread cultivation. The fruits do not possess high consumer qualities and are often small.

The exact origin of the variety is not documented, however, there is historical evidence of its distribution at the end of the 19th century in the coastal regions of Denmark, where saplings were delivered by fishermen.
