The fruits have greenish-yellow skin with orange dots and a blush on the sunny side. The flesh is firm, coarse, white to light yellow in color, and is not notably juicy. The variety is characterized by a short storage period for the fruits, which quickly become mealy.
The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of 5–7 meters, begins to bear fruit early, and produces abundant, uniform yields. The winter hardiness of the variety is assessed for zones 1–4; some sources indicate zone 5. The fruit use is culinary and fresh consumption.
Esperens Herre, Bonne Louise, and Rörstrandspäron are recommended as pollinator varieties. Historically, various types of pears could have appeared under the name «Hovstapäron».
