The fruits of this variety are among the smallest among known pear varieties. They have an asymmetric pear-like shape with the maximum diameter closer to the calyx, lack a peduncle cavity, possess a narrow calyx cavity, and have open sepals.

Moscariello is a product of folk selection and belongs to the category of ancient autochthonous varieties. The variety is ultra-early and was historically grown for the needs of family farms, currently being preserved primarily as part of regional genetic heritage.
