The variety is a local cultivated plant from the vicinity of Faenza. In the mid-20th century, the name was also used to designate progeny obtained from crossing the varieties Butirra Clairgeau and Martin Secco. The variety has synonyms such as Mora and Brutta e Buona.
The tree is characterized as very vigorous with average productivity. Harvesting occurs in October, and consumer maturity of the fruits is reached in November. The fruits are large, spherical in shape, with green skin and russeting. The white-yellow flesh has a buttery consistency and a sweet taste.
The variety is distinguished by a long storage life. The plant prefers deep and fresh soils; it is sensitive to drought, which leads to a reduction in fruit size and a deterioration in the quality of the flesh.
