The tree is distinguished by vigorous growth with an upright crown, the height of which varies from 6-9 meters on standard rootstocks to 2.5-3.5 meters on dwarf ones. The variety is the result of hybridization of the Michigan 437 and Roi Charles de Wurtemburg varieties.

The fruits are large, pear-shaped with smooth skin of light yellow or greenish-yellow color, sometimes with a pink blush. The white juicy flesh has a sweet taste and has practically no granulations.

The variety is not self-fertile and requires the presence of pollinator trees with a coinciding flowering period. At the same time, Moonglow itself acts as an effective pollinator for other varieties of European pears. The fruits are versatile in use, suitable for fresh consumption and processing.
