The variety is considered primitive and originated as a result of natural selection from wild pear. It is widespread in the Apulia region, particularly in the Gargano area, where it is known by the local name Puréddé.
The fruits are small, with a pyriform, truncate, and asymmetrical shape. The maximum fruit diameter is located closer to the calyx, the sides are convex, the stalk cavity is practically absent, and the calyx cavity is narrow and shallow.
The variety is characterized as the earliest and possesses high rusticity, manifesting in the ability to survive and bear fruit under difficult conditions.
