Tepka is not a breeding variety, but a traditional heirloom pear population, widespread in the territory of Slovenia and neighboring regions. The variety is a group of trees adapted to mountainous and foothill conditions, which may differ slightly in their properties.
The fruits are medium-sized, round in shape, changing their skin color from green to lemon-yellow upon ripening. Fruit ripening occurs in early September. The variety is characterized as hardy, undemanding, and capable of abundant fruiting, often cultivated in meadow orchards with minimal maintenance.
The fruits of the variety are for industrial processing and are valued for their high sugar content. The main methods of processing are the production of alcoholic beverages and drying. In traditional culinary arts, dried fruits were used to produce flour, applied in bread baking.
