The variety is an evergreen shrub 100–110 cm tall. The flowers are open-funnel shaped, purple-violet in color, and reach about 8 cm in diameter. There is dark brown or dark gray spotting on the upper petal. The inflorescences are dense, cone-shaped, about 14 cm in diameter, and include 18 flowers each.
The leaves are dark green, glossy, and large: up to 13 cm long and up to 5 cm wide. The flowering period occurs from late May to early June and lasts 2–3 weeks. The plant is characterized by winter hardiness and is used in the ornamental landscaping of gardens and parks.
