The variety is a historical landrace that was known at various times under the names Viiulid or Väike verrev. In the past, the potato was grown both for food purposes and as industrial raw material for spirit production and livestock feed, primarily in Southern Estonia.
The inclusion of this variety in the EVIKA center documentation is due to work on the conservation and sanitization of old varieties using in vitro tissue culture methods. Due to the lack of status as a commercial breeding product, detailed agrotechnical characteristics, such as maturity group or disease resistance, have not been established.
