The variety has been known in Estonia since the 1860s and bore the names "Viiulid" and "Väike sinine" in different regions. Currently, its preservation is carried out by specialized scientific organizations, including the EVIKA plant technology department, as well as collection museums.
Externally, the potato is characterized by a red skin, which is reflected in its name. The variety does not possess the standardized productivity and disease resistance characteristics of modern breeding, as its primary role consists in maintaining biological diversity.
