The variety «Mv Mezőföld» was bred at the Agricultural Research Institute in Martonvásár. It is intended for intensive cultivation in regional climatic conditions and frequently appears in comparative agrotechnical and genetic experiments.

In scientific research, the variety was examined for the presence of rust resistance genes (specifically, Lr1 and Lr10) and reaction to powdery mildew pathogens. Analyses of its baking qualities were also conducted, including the evaluation of sedimentation values according to the Zeleny method.
