The variety is a hybrid of the species Vitis riparia and Vitis berlandieri. A distinctive feature of its genetics is that it represents a combination of species, inverse to most rootstocks of this group. Flower type is functionally female. The leaf is large in size, wedge-shaped, and has a slightly wavy surface.

The plant possesses high resistance to the root form of phylloxera, with low resistance to the leaf form and nematodes. The variety is characterized by good adaptation to soils with high lime content, tolerating up to 40% total and up to 25% active limestone. Drought tolerance and salt tolerance are at a medium level.

In viticulture, the variety is used as a rootstock, providing an optimal balance between yield and berry quality in grafted varieties. Currently, in France, propagation of the variety is not recommended due to the spread of a syndrome causing abnormal trunk thickening and vine mortality.
