The variety is a hybrid of Cabernet Sauvignon and Regent, known under the breeding number VB 91-26-17. The bushes have strong vertical shoot growth, which ensures good ventilation and illumination of the clusters. The clusters of the variety are narrow, loose, and have few shoulders; the berries are small, round-shaped, and covered with a waxy bloom.

Cabertin belongs to mid-early varieties, ripening earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon. The variety is characterized by high resistance to downy mildew and gray mold, as well as medium resistance to powdery mildew. Good winter hardiness and late bud burst are noted, which reduces the risk of damage by spring frosts.

Wines from this variety have a deep ruby-red color and pronounced tannins. The aroma contains notes of paprika and pepper characteristic of the Cabernet family, as well as shades of mocha, espresso, and cigars. In some years, a susceptibility to verticillium wilt and bunch stem necrosis is possible.
