The variety is autochthonous to the Savoy region; its genetic origin has not been precisely established, but an affinity with the Avana variety is noted. It has a number of synonyms, including Caca d'Oie, Cacabois, Grosse Jacquère and Saint-Péray.
The plant is characterized by high vigor with an upright shoot habit. The variety belongs to the mid-season or mid-late maturity group. Clusters are small or medium, cylindrical-conical in shape. Berries are medium-sized, white, with juicy flesh of neutral flavor.
The variety is sensitive to powdery mildew and downy mildew, while possessing relative resistance to grey mold. Until full maturity, the berries are difficult to separate from the cluster. Wine from this variety is characterized by moderate body and acidity with floral-fruity aromas.
